Displacer beast
Model by Miguel F. Romero.
Six-legged catlike creature with two large tentacles sprouting from its back.
Folding tips
- Step 31: the folds go inside / underneath the folds made at step 30. Note that the thin triangles don’t both fully show, and are covered on one side by the top flap.
- Step 48: note that the top left corner won’t align. You don’t have to fold it flat, as the edge will be moved away at step 49.
- Step 50 / 51: if you don’t have a back flap at the left of the model, fold one over from the back right. It is not the result of the inside reverse fold, but should have been beneath the model.
- Step 57: start the petal fold from the bottom, fold the horizontal center flap up, and squash the top after that. This fold is simpler than it looks.
- Step 61 and further: the model doesn’t have the wide thin triangles exactly as shown in the diagram.
- Step 63: note that this open sink should result in a second flap underneath the top flap. See this image of the sink, and of the result.
- At step 84, fold layers to the left until you hit the large flap (the second layer to fold to the left, is the earlier sink fold).
Paper & size
When folded from a 47cm square, the model ends up 13cm long, 11cm in height and 7.5cm wide (depending on how it is sculpted).
A thin, sculptable paper is recommended (e.g. foil). The model becomes rather thick at the center.
