Atlantic Puffin

Model by Sébastien Limet.

Standing bulky bird with reverse-colored elements.

Also known as Macareux moine.

This model can be folded from a single sheet or from two sheets. If folded from a single sheet, it will not have extra color on its beak and feet (the beak will be colored, the feet white). When folded from two interposed sheets, the feet and beak will have a double color change.

Folding tips

  • At step 5, when folding with two sheets, make sure to fully insert the sheets inside each other, don’t just tuck the top flap of the first sheet underneath the top flap of the second sheet. If this is done incorrectly, you won’t be able to get to step 9. You can make sure the sheets are assembled correctly if you open the model up a bit and the sheets fully lie on top of each other.
  • Step 11: close the model again, as shown in step 9 and 12.
  • At step 39, the collapse is mostly just the tip of the beak that is folded downward. Note that the folds at the top of the head stay the same.

Paper & size

When folded from one (or two) 35cm squares, the model ends up 14cm in height and 10.5cm wide.

A thinner paper is recommended when folding the two-sheet version.
